Portfolio strategy and client-side advisory

Building one energy and carbon trajectory that holds across a whole portfolio.

Contact us

Across a portfolio of buildings, investment has to be spread over time. The question is therefore not only which actions are possible on each site, but in which order they should come.

Energy targets and carbon targets do not always lead to the same decisions. A building can cut its consumption sharply and still keep a high carbon intensity, depending on the energy it runs on.

A portfolio strategy sets these objectives against the regulatory deadlines, the available budgets and the real timetable on which equipment comes up for replacement.

Our studies

Existing studies brought together across a portfolio

We collect and analyse the studies already carried out, align their assumptions and their indicators, then name the data or the analyses that are missing. The point is to use the work already done before commissioning new investigations.

Energy and carbon trajectory

We build a multi-year trajectory that holds together the energy targets, the carbon emissions, the regulatory deadlines and the planned replacement of equipment.

Ranking the actions

We compare the possible works on their energy and carbon savings, their cost, their timing and the main constraints on carrying them out. We also take in the dependencies between actions, so that works which have to be thought through together are not programmed separately.

Client-side advisory on environmental strategy

We work alongside the client to frame the studies, examine the technical proposals, consolidate the results and follow the trajectory that has been set.

Large-scale screening studies and purpose-built tools

When a portfolio holds several dozen or several hundred buildings, a first consistent analysis can be run on the data already available. It shows which sites come first and concentrates the detailed studies where they tell us the most. This screening study is a ranking tool; it does not stand in for the studies needed before works are committed.

Studies built around your own data

Not every portfolio question matches a standard study. We also work on methods, on calculation tools and on specific analyses built around the data you already hold.

Energy price projections

We build explicit price scenarios to test how far an investment programme depends on the energy price assumptions behind it.

Carbon of refurbishment scenarios

We compare the emissions of different refurbishment scenarios across a set of buildings, with the emissions avoided and, where it makes sense, the carbon payback time.

Calculation tools and data handling

We structure consumption or billing data, automate recurring calculations and produce consistent outputs that make the buildings of one portfolio comparable.

Data analysis applied to energy

Where the need calls for it, we develop analysis methods that work through large volumes of energy data, bring performance gaps to light and make a portfolio easier to follow.
